Sara Scott, CPDT

Head Trainer

Sara is a certified professional dog trainer and behavioral counselor and has been training dogs and their people since 2000. She received her certification in pet training from the Petsmart Pet Training Academy and graduated from the Marin Humane Society Canine Behavior Academy I and II. Sara is a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers and is a certified Canine Good Citizen evaluator with the American Kennel Club.

Sara has extensive experience with pit bulls and has fostered over a dozen in her home. From 2006-2010, Sara served as lead dog trainer for BAD RAP's (Bay Area Dog Lovers Responsible About Pitbulls') adoption and education programs, Pit Bull Hall and The Ambassadog Project. Sara has been teaching group dog training classes for over ten years and has taught for the Oakland SPCA, San Francisco SPCA and Tony La Russa's Animal Rescue Foundation.

Sara is an associate K9 Nose Work instructor with the National Association of Canine Scent Work. Her dog Mikey, a pit bull rescued from a fight bust in the the Midwest; recently earned her NW1 title with a second place overall out of 50 dogs along with the Harry Award given to the best performing rescue dog.

Sara's other dogs include Leroy,CGC, a rescued pit bull who survived Hurricane Katrina and Finntroll du Loups du Soleil, a Belgian Malinois. She is currently training Finntroll in the obedience, agility and protection elements required for French Ring Sport and Mondioring Sport competitions.

 

Scott Warner

Assistant Trainer

Scott Warner got started training dogs when he adopted his first dog, Jake, several years ago from euthanasia in an overcrowded shelter. Serving as assistant dog trainer for What’s Up Dog?, Scott helps out in private dog training sessions as well as group classes. Scott is steadily pursuing his decoy certification for Mondioring and French Ring sport and trains under decoy Francis Metcalf (check out Scott in action here). Scott is currently training and competing in K9 nose work with his shepherd mix Jake.
